I took the mito 443 out the weekend to do some running in and there's a little coolant in the belly pan, it appears to have run down the little hole in the cases but can't tell where it's actually come from. It doesn't seem to have come from the head or the connection at the head but it looks like either dripped from the hose connection onto the tube that goes into the water pump, or from the cases themselves
Is it possible that if the O ring on that tube leaked where it goes to the back of the water pump, but the cases were still sealed on the gasket it could weep past the outside of the tube?

Yes totally possible
Gasket should stop it getting in the engine so will leak out onto engine top

I have previously wrapped a small amount of ptfe tape around the pipe before fitting the o ring to pack it out a bit
A bit of silicone is worth a try

I was told to always put a thin smear of clear silicone on the O ring before sliding the casing on.
I've always done that, even on a new O ring and it's always been ok.
