Hi,
Managed to get out for a wee run this afternoon for the first time this year !
Over the winter I fitted new outer fork seals or dust seals as they perished, Perhaps due to being over stretched on that Micron fork brace?
A new genuine clutch cable which has deffo made the clutch a bit easier with its go faster 3 x TZ clutch springs in it.
A pair of those snazi brake/clutch levers....I havnt decided if they are staying on yet or not, will need to do some more miles to decide.
I also sprayed the exhausts and de-coked the baffles, the only reason I sprayed the exhaust was due to minor dribbles of 2 stroke getting on them and leaving marks that offended me. I am hoping to get my Allspeeds on it at somepoint too.
I did make a bit of a boo boo in that I only put 5 litres of pre mix in it.
I had it in my head that I get approx 50 or so miles to 5 litres, so I planned to come home after 50 miles.
But the 5 ltrs I put in it, was into an empty tank, so I went onto reserve at 20 miles, did 12 on reserve then came home.
It was great to get out on it again and I enjoyed my afternoon in the sunshine, I am only home as I was on reserve, or I would still be out on it.
What do we all run our pre mix at ?
A few years back, I telephoned NK Racing and asked him, I was told 40:1 for normal road use and 30:1 for heavy / racing / track use.
I ran it in properly for 600 odd miles or more using 40:1 on semi synthetic.
Now I am onto Castrol Power 1 fully synthetic this year and got that good Castrol app for my iphone that someone posted on here a few months back that gives you the 2 stroke ratios.
I have been giving it a bit more revs now its all run in so I could not decide on 30:1 or 40:1, so I decided on 32:1, as that is the setting between the two on that Castrol app.
I was just interested to hear what others use.
I was also once told that if oil is dribbeling out the back of your exhausts, then its getting too much oil.
I was getting minor dribbles out the back of the exhausts with 40:1, and I see minor dribbles again today when I got home, but I suppose its nice to know its getting plenty oil.
