Hi All,
Bike has been running very poorly, bogging down unless given high revs, cutting out but eventually re-starting but still running sh..e. Confident electrical side has been sorted, thanks to help from forum, so decided to remove carbs and check. Main jet clean and clear, pilot jet totally blocked. Would this indicate problems have been suffering or only part of problem? Carbs have been ultrasonically cleaned with new float valves.
TIA
Paul
PS Fuel flow from tank is fine.

That would certainly cause the symptoms
Just make sure the emulsion tubes are also clear

Could be your problem mate. For the time it will take to clear the pilots and stick the carbs back on it's worth a try.
I'd make sure you clean em out properly, sometimes you can see through them but they are still only half the bore they should be with dried out shite in them. I use special little cleaning pins (very carefully) that with clean them out properly.
And yes check the emulsion tubes, they are often overlooked cos they are out of sight.

Thanks mlc. Time to order some new jets. Stupidly forgot to check these when re-building carbs. Thanks looey. Jets are totally jammed couldn't get pin through them. So bin for them.

You shouldn't need to buy any new jets, just clean them properly I've had them jammed before, you can clean them out if you are careful. I've used Micro drills by hand before. The jets are very soft brass, so you need to be very very careful when doing it.

I've cleaned mine by soaking them in Yamaha carb cleaner solution overnight. That softens up the crud inside. Then I cleared them out with an old guitar string - the high E string does the job. No need to bin them.

Cheers all. Will give them a soak and see what happens. Unfortunately jets have been sitting for 14 years in same fuel.
