am about to repaint my exhaust from my mk1,but before i do can any one tell me the best way to repair a few scratches and small dents before repainting. ive been told to use a "liquid metal"filler but am sure this has been done before and it started to react once it got up to temp. it may be a real simple question for a pro but any help would be great.

I have a couple of really small dents in my exhaust which I need to sort so interested in replies....I was just thinking of mig welding the dents then smoothing off - then I also have some Q-Bond with filling powder I was thinking of using...

I did a quick job using some old JB weld and the Plasticote BBQ paint seems ok on it so far.
I also used it to repair that common little pin hole you get blowing in the middle underneath, with mixed results, that bit really needs welding.

A more permanent solution could be to have it braized,
