my gearlever has alot of play at the case end while changing gear,it looks as though there was a bush in the case at one point that the shaft ran in but this has worn out over the years...anyone know how easy it is to mod the case for a roller-bearing? anyone done it? or should i just try and fit a new bush?can you get them? or do you have to make one?come on guys...fess-up

i dont know how thick that stuuffs gotta be? theres a fair bit of meat on the case itself would the nylon thingy need to be pushed into the case as a solid rod then drilled out to suit the shaft?or is the nylon strong enough to be pushed into the case already drilled out to size?coz it would only be a few mill thick? what do you reckon guys?...cheers by the way hooligan

UPDATE>>>
Big thanks to Hooligan.Good as his word,he made me up a bush(two actually) on his lathe to my dimensions out of nylon.I drifted the old mullered one out of the engine case and stuffed the new one in.I asked him to do me one that wasn't ready drilled out to size,in case it deformed while fitting,a wise move it turned out. When it was wedged in good and proper,(intererence fit!) i took the case to my mates house to drill it out to size. His pillar drill wasn't exactly inspiring confidence,so i drilled it out partially and finished it using a 12mm drill bit by hand...literally,using the bit,no drill,as the nylon was cutting really easily and the last thing i wanted was another 'loose bush'.Lobbed the case back on the bike, adjusted the clutch, refitted the gearlever and linkage, job jobbed! Once more, big thanks to hooligan, who took time out from his own rebuild(looking good by the way),to help his fellow forum member... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
