hi people great site by the way. lot of interesting stuff to read now i have an rd125 lc, i do have 1 question if someone could answer it for me please? i would like to find out if my rd 125 lc engine is the restricted or unristricted engine.. engine number starts with the 12a. which as i can see is the restricted engine .. but the barrel is a 10w which according to the manual is the unristricted rd 125 barrel.. and the head says 10v which according to the manual is the unrestricted dt125 head.. am i reading this all wrong and the engine is normal or has it been played with?? id be very greatful if someone could answer this for me cheers

hi pablo.. Ive just checked the carb.. and its a mikuni 10v00 the main jet in there says its a 160rd is this OK?? it sounds like the unrestricted (dt125lc) carb, (that has a 80 jet as standard, the rd had a 155 as standard) so the previous owner upped it to a 160 for the allspeed. having the 'all-sorts' on your bike is nothing to worry about, the mk1 rd+dt were/are very interchangeable, the original bike may have blown up and that's all the parts he could get or he's got as many of the unrestricted parts of both bikes to make an unrestricted one either way you should be kicking out around 20bhp. all should be OK, if in doubt do a plug chop to check colour. PS, have you seen my rd80/125 hybrid rebuild (in hybrid section), i'm thinking of a nitrous system too ;D.
