That ypv engine looks a thing of beauty and nice to see your keeping the autolube functioning, One of my pet peeves is removed autolubes makes rideing a bike a ball ache imo.

Picked up these beauties today Original finish and still with the machine marks on the spoke edges. Went really retro and have got a pair of new Metzeler ME33/ME99 tyres for them. Same as the ones fitted but never used. Steve

Spent the evening in the shed. Engine in, tie bars fitted but then backward step taking the wheels back off in preparation for the original finish ones. I'l drop the wheels off tomorrow to get the tyres fitted Got my ultrasonic cleaner out to clean up the loom. Had to change the fluid 3 times. Do you think it was a bit dirty Even after just 3 minutes you can see the difference Need to change the Genny plug as a bit melted, luckily got a spare and a non standard connector for the temp sender. Only other repair is where the headlight wiring was spliced to fit the twin headlights so some solder and heat shrink needed. Steve

Great work Steve, never thought of using my ultrasonic cleaner to clean up the loom.... Have heard of people throwing them in the dishwasher, but never been brave enough to do it... In case it knackered something...will give that one a go... Can't believe how much shite you got off..... That will help with my N2 build....getting ever closer to starting my thread...also... Just loving the "monsters inc" workmat.... One of my face films of all times....,!!...Keep up the good work and momentum...an inspiration for me to get cracking as the nights draw in...!

Ive used US cleaners a few times on looms, and like Steve have found them to be excellent. What fluid did you use Steve?

Ive used US cleaners a few times on looms, and like Steve have found them to be excellent. What fluid did you use Steve? You'll laugh at this.... .....bathroom cleaner. Work for a cleaning chemical company so got an abundance off different stuff kicking around. Had a bottle of concentrated washroom cleaner for hard water so is acidic. Filled the cleaner with 60 degree water then added the dose to make up a 500ml bottle so basically neat off the shelf stuff. Gave it a good dunking in fresh water afterwards to rinse and neutralise Bathroom cleaner great for many things, a lot of surfactants in it. Also use it for cleaning car wheels. Steve

good tip.. which particular cleaner should we be buying..? I've steered clear of things like Cillit Bang as I've seen some shocking damage done to Ali with it..

Yes cillit bang is too strong for alloy. Avoid anything that claims to remove limescale or has bleach in it. Mr Muscle or similar should be fine Rinsing or neutralising is the key. Steve

If it kills mould it will have bleach in it. Worth a go but try a weak solution first to stop the ph being too alkaline. Steve

Ahh ok, yeah we dont want to bleach anything... I'll keep looking, I was mostly tempted cos its from a known source who I already order from of course Cheers for reviewing mate.

Spent another hour on the wheels cleaning up the black. Waiting on new bearings coming before fitting but got the tyres fitted. Check out the 80's throwback tyres Steve

I remember vividly that restoring the original black on my wheels was a pig of a job... the t-cut process took forever and then had to try and get it out of all the little pits and around the letters... well done.. they look great... Love the tyres..

God its freezing outside Original carbs had suffered from the neglect so picked up another pair. Stripped them tonight to clean them but to be honest they were spotless inside but blew them through with carb cleaner. Fitted new float valves and seats as a matter of course Just need to check the jets are correct size before refitting. Need a magnifying glass as eyes aren't what they used to be. Steve

The rear master looks amazing, its this kind of attention to detail that sorts the men from the boys for sure.
A question re the key... Is there a list of what years got what key types anywhere? I have also struggled with finding the correct topped key for my bikes, and would have loved to see a definitive guide somewhere.

Don't know about definitive but in my experience the 31k was all large tab with the white writing. 1ua models had the small tab key. All modern replacement stuff has the new shaped key Steve
