I don't think the two events are linked. Was it a genuine seal or a pattern one? Does the bike smoke heavily?

Hi the seal are not genuine I got them for a local motorcycle engine reconers that I used years ago and had no problem and and the smoke isn't super bad but bad enough that the oil is spitting of the exhaust

See if Norbo has them, or Yamaha.

Top guy thanks for that .i was thinking there might a problem with the crank cases on top of other problems that I have found with it I think I got my eye wiped a bit when I got it . The guy I got it off was running it on a 12a with a micron with a 155 jet in it and and it wouldn't even start properly with a standard exhaust on it he even put a 350 lc temp sender in so the the temp was all over the place thanks again

No worries mate good luck. Try Norbo first then Granby motors or Fowlers.

Hi Have you checked the crankshaft spacer/collar the seal sits on, there only about £11 from mr yamaha and worth replacing even if lightly scored, that could cause your seal to leak, worth a look while your got it in bits, as for crank seals ive used genuine and yambits ones, the present crankseals are yambits ones been in 2 1/2 years now all fine allthough they did have a dodgy batch once, ledar/allspeed/ 95mph indicated with a 14.5stone 6ft3 48y old rider lol
