I'm putting my mk2 125lc back together next week, well hopefully, its in 3 boxes at the mo , any way will have~ skimmed flywheel,220 main jet, ledar nozzle, swarbrick racing spannie, carbon reeds and a reed spacer. I'm not sure if to re fit the k&n or to fit a standard air box from my spares? i know it will probably sound nicer with the k&n but I'm thinking theres more chance of a bit of bottom end power and less of a flat spot with the air box? i haven't been on one of these for years so I'm not relay sure.

If you fit the K+N..... fit the extension tube....this irons out the bottom end flatspot

ive got both so i will give them both a go,i havent got the extension tube for the k&n (its probaly a cheap cone filter not a genuine k&N).i was hopeing the reed spacer would help smooth out the flat spot.

How wide is the reed spacer mate ? , alot of tuning info sites recommend at least 8mm , with the extension being 30mm

or you could try removing the reed spacer and using just a spacer tube 60mm length and yep that is a 32mm carb that runs on my lc also uses a ram air filter

my hybrid tuner simply does not rate the reed spacer at all, it enlarges the area in front/behind (from which ever perspective you use) the reed block/piston creating even LESS upward pressure for the 2 stroke cycle therefore loosing power! the best way to eliminate a 'flat spot' using a k+n/s+b filter is the spacer: the 'general' consensus is a minimum of 60mm but longer is OK

That makes sense Jamie, the point of the reed valve is to stop charge going back through the carb, if you move this further from the barrel it'll take longer for the pressure to equalise as it'll have more volume to compress in!

Wouldn't use a k+n filter only ramair as you don't need a spacer with them as they have no metal back

so let me get my head round this if idecided to use a ka nd n filter on the 39m carb i have for my tzrr engine then it will allow the bike to run more effiect yeah (or is the idea of the spacer tube jsut to stop it from fluffling up the bottom end
