The best way to learn to ride a bike mate is to find a large open area , use all your controls smoothly , get to know the characteristics of your bike .

thanks for the replies - i must admit that the law does seem strange that you can ride a bike in one day ,but take months to pass a car test, even though you are at a hell of a lot more risk on a bike - that's what my missus says anyway. think she secretly doesnt want me to finish the bike. will post more up to dat pics when i have more, cheers

Have you had any bike experiance before? or will be your first bike you ever ride . if so i would invers in a few lessons.

Buy or borrow an off-roader, you will learn more riding off road than you will on it.

true about the off road idea - can break me legs and it will be all my fault instead of some dick in a rover 416 with one of those nice flat caps on!!! seriously, prob the best place to learn control and confidence.

Ive always treated every car like it hasnt seen you, assume they will cut you up, change lanes infront of you, pull out on you and turn right when you overtake them!
