Slowly am piecing the 125 back together. I now have it on at least the right frame, but previous to this it was stood 80% complete for a few (read 8+) yrs Today i dug the engine out of the shed for a brush up. It was sort of covered in a gooey/tacky coating and at first i thought me mam had dropped a tin of varnish on it. I soon realised it was congealed 2 stroke oil Now i know its not petrol as the engine was only run 10mins max after a rebuild and then it was completely drained of fuel. So i set about cleaning it up off the cases and wondered where it had leaked from? Round the bottom of the reed block and intake sort of gave a clue as it was still wet. No prob, as i have probably averted a disaster, so i now know it needs extra sealing round there Decided to whip the intake rubber off and have a look through the intake (see if i can see the bore condition. All sounds mustard turning it over on the bench, very smooth. Which isn't really surprising as the bottom of the crank cases is full of 2 stroke! Right up to the bottom of the intake port Am now sort of concerned why the oil has drained into the engine i've never seen that happen before and although a great rust preventative i dont really want it happening all the time. Plus she's gonna smoke like a b4st4rd when i get to fire her up! Is there some type of check valve in the oil pump maybe?

It's a pretty common thing on 2-strokes, it's just the 2-stroke oil pump letting the oil past when the bike is standing. I think Arrow on here will restore RD125LC pumps ??, maybe drop him a PM and ask. My 125LC does it, so does my AR50 and so does my YB100.....lol They all do it to varying degrees, but as I use them regularly, they just smoke a bit more for the first minute or so. When I bought my AR50 it had been standing for 3 years as was exactly the same as your 125, filled right upto the ports with 2-stroke oil . I took the head and barrel off, syringed all the oil out, stuck the top end back on and it's been fine ever since

YES Chef If you don't or can't be arsed to get the pump fixed or replaced, then if you do leave the bike for a long periods of time, you can just pull the feed pipe off the pump and plug it until you want to use the bike next Don't forget to re-fit and bleed the pump before you run it again. Srick a reminder post-it note on the speedo so you don't forget
