Just finished a complete engine rebuild and bike has no power at all if you open the throttle past 1/4 or try and go above 5000 rpm. Up to that point it feels very torquey for a 125. It will rev right up to 9000 on the stand.
I have fitted a 6mm plate between the barrel and reed block to help with low down torque, would this be a problem?
Currently has a 210 main jet as I have an allspeed exhaust but standard air box. Tried removing the air filter but no change. Has new plug, new coil, timing set and tesco 99 octane fuel in it. Would this problem indicate a lack of air (rich) or lack of fuel (lean)?
The slide fitted in side the carb has 2.0 stamped on it. Is this the standard slide?
I have a clear fuel line so I know it has fuel to the carb.
Please help, lol. Mike.

I assume your riding it and nothing happens after 1/4
Obviosly check main jet and emulsion tube is clean and possibly try smaller main jet
Can you describe what happens after 1/4 throttle
You could ride it and when there is no power stop and check plug if its soaking then it running rich

Hi Robb, if I ride it up to 1/4 throttle and only up to 5000 rpm it pulls and runs lovely. Anymore than 1/4 or when it gets above 5k it starts to cough/splutter and it has absolute zero power. It simply won't rev above 5k/6k when your riding it but will rev up in neutral. I've taken the carb off now and I'm going to refurb it with a keyster carb kit.

Raven
I thought that was my problem when mine played up but turned out there was somat blocked some where luckily i had a spare stator and cdi to eliminate the issues.
I was on the understanding that if there was a problem with stator/timing/firing then it wouldnt rev on the stand.
Let us know how you get on were you based mikey

Check the needle in the keyster carb kit is right for your application. Someone over on the DT forum had a few issues with midrange after using the keyster kit. Dont know if he's sorted it yet but the needle was different and it all seemed to point to that part.
