i noticed awhile back that when i put my bike on side stand a small amount of fuel comes out the overflow,is this incorrect float height or a faulty float needle?

could be flote hight mate just wip it of and ajust the tab a little and see if it stops .

21 mm from the bottom of the body to the top of the float +/- 1mm
Hold it at a little more than 45 degrees so the float just sits on the plunger and take your measurment from there

Could also be rust from the tank.
