Hi guys I am Albie or Andy to some. I have just got myself a 1977 Yamaha RD250D to add to my fleet of restorations of Yamaha's a nearly new Ducati and a little Suzuki moped. So I have had it just 3 weeks and love it but got some minor issues I am trying to deal with myself before farming out to Raccoon's if not. Its not pulling proper power up hills and feels like starvation of fuel as struggles to hold 6000rpm.
I have had just around 80 downhill and revs freely and starts first or second kick. Put new fuel lines on too and plugs not oiled either. Just got all my front brake master cylinder parts for a rebuild as its running a Honda 250 pattern one. I just need to decide whether to go back to an original new rubber hose set up or keep the black HEL type line. Also looking for a rear seat cowl that hasn't been modified or cut. I would accept a poor paint one in any colour with small cracks or lumps missing if it could be repaired. I am gradually getting parts list of stuff I want to repair or replace and this is all minor stuff as is a very decent bike from a member on here you may know.
My bike was a Calne bike show last week.

Oh cool. I couldn't believe it she never wanted to start. Had it 3 weeks now and started 1st or second kick. I even turned fuel off to stop it flooding on standing as supposed to. It never wants choke since had it. Its not pulling right so needs attention. Thanks Dusty it is a decent bike yes. I was lucky to be in the boxes with a mate whose wife sponsors a race for her late husband who was a racer. My mate is rebuilding a Benelli 250 TC 2 stroke. Much like an RD engine. Where about in south are you from then.

Hi Albie, I'm in Ashford, Middlesex, in the shadow of Heathrow. You mention Mark -Raccoon, he lives a few hundred yards away and bought my Hybrid Lc last year. I went to Brands with Andrew - forum name "Mouse", and he rode his stunning hybrid there. We met up with Martin Brown -Mad Biker Designs- who was hoping to get some more Lc's/Ypvs there but Andrew was the only one there We spent most of the time at Druids, and then later at Paddock hill bend. I hadn't been to Brands for years, and when I got there the YPM lads were out on their Tzr's doing practice, and as soon as I got out of the car and smelt the air, thick with burnt two stroke oil, it was like going back in time !! Had a great day, and the weather was perfect too. Definitely going to the meet at Brands on October 4th. Be good to get some more of us there if you fancy it Regards Dusty

Yes I know Mark. He did my 2 fizzy engines for me. I may just chuck this bike at his door to weave some Raccoon magic on it. Great bloke and very trustworthy and never heard a bad word about him. He also gets my plating and stuff too. Top quality is his plater.
