Hi, i'm giving a set of 1999 R6 carbs a strip and clean.I ordered a few new parts including the float chamber gaskets. My question is - should any type of gunk (Yamabond?) be used when fitting them to the carbs? The reason i ask, is that the original gaskets were stuck in place on the float chamber covers with some kind of silicone/glue. This seemed a bit of a bodge to me. Should i use any when re-building, or just use new gaskets, clean both mating surfaces (one is grooved) and hope for the best? Cheers, 67kev.

They have rubber gaskets I've never put anything on them when refitting

That's right, a weird shaped rubber gasket. I'll clean everything up and use the gaskets on their own. Cheers, Kev.
