84 swiss model i believe, would imagine it should if you use all the components. Was it just the mk3 that was different?

Oh thanks it's going to be fitted with a 10 w carb stator and exhaust the guy I got it from said it ran backwards!!?? But it's a virtually new motor and it's mint that's why I want to use it.

Sounds like a timing issue if it is running backwards. Can imagine it makes for an interesting launch in 1st gear

That was my first thought but the timing on these bikes are non adjustable so that's why I need to know what stator plate is used on a Swiss 84 motor maybe easier to get another engine!! £ £ £

matching stator, cdi, flywheel should be good i imagine. Am a bit out of the loop with what works together and what doesn't right now. Would have thought any mk1 10w, 12a stuff should mix ok. Not sure on anything after :/

46w is same engine as 10w but has smooth clutch cover . The Stator, carb, were stamped 10w and runs 10w cdi. The carb was the 84 spec with different float bowl drain and rubber tipped float needle

Hi guys more news I've found out that if you put a mk2 stator plate on a mk1 10w/12a engine then fit a 10w fly wheel over it then hey presto it runs backwards! So remember you never know what previous owners have done.
