Hi everybody, I'm Marco from Belgium ( so sorry if i have to improve my English ) and new in 125 2st world. I have already a Honda XL125 restored ( not full stock with 165cc kit that i import for the board team, stainless handmade pipe... ) and now i'm starting and RD125Lc restoration. My RD is 10W type with 11Y carb, 10W pipe and... a lot of work ( it's what i like!!! ). 56mm bore, 19.000 KM, rusted tank. Some pics : I have already buy some parts : 1* Front wheel with disc 1* NOS radiator grill 1* New Plastic front fender from Ebay.Uk ( Taiwan source ) 1* Fork seal set I have restore the front fairing wich was exploded by a crash ( i guess ) with a new technique wich is incredible for ABS parts and really cheap compare to plastifix, plastex, plastech original... for almost same chemical component in this kit, buy some nails powder with some monmer liquid!!! My belly pan has a missing spot, I would like to buy a new, If Norbo has some pics of this it would be great for me!!! Belly pan are made by you? I have to finish dismatling for frame powder coating. Thankx for welcoming me!!! Marco

Plenty to keep you busy there then Marco Welcome and enjoy your stay. The folks here are pretty helpful all round. One question, where does an 11y carb come from ?

This carb come from Belgium/German Rd125LC ( Mikuni VM24 ). According to another board, it seems to be a good carb for performance. Configuration is : Needle : 5GN36 Pilot : 20 Main : 140 Slide cut : 1.5 Diameter at exit is 28mm but it seems smaller at venturi, not yet mesured but L24 is stamped on carb body. link : rd125lc.proboards.com/thread/2755/12a-10w-carbsMy carb was completly block by dried oil. i had a lot of trouble to remove slide but with hair dryer i succeed. I have to receive my ultrasonic cleaner ( 2.6L )in few next day. i will post some pics. I have already clean it a bit with carb cleaner and diluted Phosporic acid bath.

Hello and welcome to the site I also have a 10W RD125LC with an 11Y carb fitted and it goes very well. Mine has a little porting, pipercross air filter element in a standard airbox and Micron exhaust with modified end can and it runs spot-on with a 170 main jet. I have tried it with 10W, 12A and 11Y carbs and the 11Y carb is what I think it runs best with.

THX for welcoming me!
With standard 10W exhaust, what do you sujest as main jet?
What's tlc?
If somebody has a belly pan to sell it would be great. it's impossible to repair this plastic.

TLC = Tender Loving Care If the rest of the engine is standard, then I'd leave the jetting as is. Mine had a 140 main jet when I originally got it.

The rest of engine seems to be standard.
Where it's possible to buy new pipe? ( not TK or K2TEC )
Do you think a Gianelli TZR pipe will fit & work on RD125LC?

Hi Marco, a warm welcome to the forum. Great pictures and interesting information about your carb. I want to de-restrict my sons UK 125LC which is standard

It's only the exhaust that really restricts the 12A model over the 10W full power model. Change the exhaust for a genuine 10W, or a Micron, or an Allspeed and you will have a full power bike. The different pipes do give different power characteristics though. For example an Allspeed will give a better spread of power than a Micron, but the power will stop dead at 9,500 rpm. The Micron pipe is a bit more peaky but will rev right out to 10,500 - 11,000 rpm (and eat your crank quicker.... )

Thanks Looey, I'll keep a look out for an allspeed pipe [don't want to eat a crank], I thought carb changes might be needed as well. Sorry Marco for hijacking your thread!

No problem mate, it's what these forums are for. When I was 17 a purchased a UK 12A model brand new, ran it in for 600 miles, then had the first service by the supplying Yam dealer. I then fitted a brand new small can allspeed, lifted the carb needle one notch to richen up the mid-range a little and it was easily as fast as any standard 10W model like the one I have now

No prob Yamark, as looey said it's the target of this kind of forum, ask & learn.
I will keep my 10W pipe but i have some small impact on it and i hate this. I'm not for full stock restoration but i really like when everything is perfect...

Thanks Marco, I had a dent on my exhaust and had it braised and ground back to shape. It was a small dent though. Hope this helps. Regards Mark
