Hi all help needed!!!!!! I've got an rd350ypvs fitted with zeeltronic ignition I've checked all the wiring a thousand times and it's fine. The powervalve movement should be set to open via adjusters then turn ignition on it goes clockwise and anticlockwise back to open as a test/cleaning cycle....then upon starting it goes clockwise to close the port until 6000ish revs are met then it goes anticlockwise to open correct??? Mine is missing the signal upon start up so the valve is not closing?? It moves when I rev to 6000ish so is getting that signal but then obviously it's closing!!! Everything works apart from the close/clockwise movement upon starting the engine. The ignition test is fine........... Anybody help with this as I've spent days on the bloody thing. Cheers paul.

Confused me too when we were trying to set a Zeel up .. came to the conclusion that everything is a bit backwards to what we thought We ended up refitting the standard YPVS controller, adjusting the cables as per the manual, then removing the controller and plugging in the Zeel. The holes that lined up with the standard controller then end up a fair bit out after you switch on the ignition and it has done the clean cycle - about eight minutes past if it were a clock face. After some head-scratching, swapping everything back again to standard, trying to adjust cables but running out of adjuster, then resorting to google, the diagram below helped us figure out what was happening. The standard controller moves the valve three times in the cleaning cycle when you first switch the ignition on, but the Zeel only moves it twice. If you set the valve as per the manual on a standard setup so that the two holes are lined up, then feel up the exhaust port, you will find the valve is fully open and not in the low RPM position. Switching the ignition on with the Zeel setup moves the valve twice, but it ends up in the partially closed, low RPM position, not fully open as with the standard controller. Hopefully this will help you, as it did with us: The right-hand part of the diagram is the bit to look at - the face of the valve closest to the cylinder bore is the bit that raises and lowers the exhaust port, and going by the angles in the diagram we came to the conclusion that the Zeel isn't easy to set up because nothing lines up anywhere after the cleaning cycle! You can set your Zeel so there is no cleaning cycle when you turn the ignition on btw so you might want to plug your controller in and make sure it is set as it should be .. far too many options for us in our (early) 50s though

Thanks markhoopy Studied loads of you tube videos on working ypvs systems....there is one on there where a guy has a camera on the valve so you can see exactly what it should do! On a standard set up cdi/motor unit off ignition it should cycle twice.....close/open the next cycle is on start up...it should then close the exhaust port restricting gases to give more low down power. Had contact from borut today from zeeltronic who said.....the zeeltronic does not operate like a standard cdi/motor unit! It operates open/close and you then start the bike with a closed valve. Upon starting it stays closed and opens on revs 6000ish. If I had known this I could have had the bike on the road weeks ago! Oh and it's not so much an age thing it's more instructions needed with the zeeltronic as I informed borut today then any age would not have a problem! All the best.....happy riding! Pj

Pj Now that you have set the Zeel p/v controller up and are happy that it is as it should be, is your valve in the same place as mine after you have switched the ignition on and the clean cycle has finished? The valve is in the closed position before you start the engine and the hole for setting the adjustment cables is at about eight minutes past approx on a clock? Just so I know that someone agrees with me lol

My bike was set up on the dyno last week. It's putting out 60bhp so I can assume the valves are set up correctly.
Zeeltronic fitted.
Ignition off valves in closed position. The adjustment slot on the pulley wheel is in line with the right hand cable adjuster.
Ignition on valve opens ( anti clockwise) then returns to closed position.

Yep sounds the same as how mine is set .. all the head-scratching must have worked then

This is how I set mine up : turn ignition on ,plug zeel controller in ,go to powervalve open on hand held controller, look up the exhaust port and press +or - until in fully open position
