I heard this afternoon that my second favourite corner on the mountain course, windy corner, has had a speed limit of 40 mph enforced. Can anyone confirm this? Has the Manx government succumbed to nanny state pressure?

I've just checked some footage I took on a run round there a couple of weeks ago. It's a red triangle sign showing the left hander with the advisory 40mph below. Not a red ringed compulsory 40.

It is indeed a big open right hander. You can see right across the top of the valley and give it proper large if theres no traffic coming the other way. Iain, I think you're mixing it up with the top of Hailwoods? Looey, I assume you're over there now, enjoy!

Yeah I've probably done 100+ runs over the Mountain over the last 7 years, so know it pretty well You'll be able to give it large alright, it's one way There's been 2 bad crashes today, so it's been shut half the day I've been over and can confirm there's no speed limit on Windy corner . There is 40mph warning triangle on the left hand side of the road as you approach (the same as in iainw's pic, but with the arrow pointing to the right......lol)

Wouldn't 40mph be flat out on the bantam?

Steve, Bantam is long gone , to facilitate repairs to the LC. Giving it large refers to me little old R1..... Or my LC. Maybe even thr DR.....
