Anyone know the best way to remove the fixed drive gear between the water pump and the oil pump in the clutch cover? Had mine shot blasted and some shot has got in behind the gear wheel. The shaft it is on looks like it is just pressed into the casing but how do I remove it?

Lol, I assume you must have to just grab it with some mole grips and twist/force it out, but would like to hear from someone who has done it before I wreck my casing.

I was thinking heat the cases in the oven and trying to knock it out. but don't want to risk screwing it up

Heating it would probably be a good idea, but the shaft goes into a blind hole so you can't get behind it to knock it out.

remember doing one, the shaft goes through the case and into the water pump chamber. Remove water pump cover and gasket, heat the cover in an oven, I then rested a few ice cubes on the shaft [gearwheel side, to shrink]. Then drift the shaft out. The drift must be close to the diameter and flat, as you can damage the shaft. HTH Note the shaft has to be removed to change the gearwheel and the shaft is NLA from Yamaha
