On the right hand side crankshaft seal there is a spacer between the seal and the shaft. What stops the gearbox oil being drawn in through the gap between the spacer and the shaft as this is obviously not an air tight seal as the spacer just slides over the shaft?

If I right in what your thinking about it's called a labor into seal n yes it stops oil vortex ing through seal last one I fitted was 3foot in diameter n it stopped oil leaking out gbox hth

not lost or gained any oil yet, so yam must have it right, did use a new spacer at rebuild time, about £9 i think
