Well i finally took the lc out for its first ride today, Only a mile around the block. Brought back a few memories and also thinking WTF But it must be close on 20 years since i last rode one so a lot as changed since then including my weight lol First problem when the bike go,s to kick in the powerband or whatever you want to call it, It just splutters. I expect its probably down to carbs? Any ideas as to where to start?

i'd be checking your emulsion tubes are not blocked and /or needles worn for starters mate

All the needles and jets are new, I bought some carb rebuild tubes from norbo. What/where are the emulsion tubes?

Emulsion tubes are set centrally inside the carbs with the main jets screwed in the end. They tap out with gentle force with a small socket or similar. Quite possible that the small holes are blocked. A good place to start anyway.

what bike is it?
what jets are you running and what is the needle clip position?
what pipes are you running?

its a 350lc with microns, The bike in my avatar. Not sure what size jets i bought a carb rebult kit of Norbo so i,d expect standared sizes. Cant remember off the top of my head now the needle position. But will check when i look at the tubes.

If u haven't ridden the bike since fitting the jets I would be looking at the main jet sizes first! If your running different pipes then I would suspect iT would need re-jetting anyway so the stock sizes would be no good! Check the old jet sizes, assuming it ran ok before? Hope that helps!

the 2 areas that are suspect are the needle settings and main jets although by the sounds of it,needle clip is favourite.
were the float heights checked?

To be honest if you have only done a mile it will probably need more to clear it's throat a bit and fully heat up.
Microns famous for a splutter before the power comes in but can be vastly improved by jetting and needle position but also check the emulsions.

Ok thanks for all the useful info looks like im going to be busy over the bank holiday. Ive never road the bike before and its just had new piston kits fitted so don't really want to go hammering it to soon. What size jets should i be looking for and what needle position?
I should also say that when it was stripped one of the old pistons was almost burnt through.

If it's just been rebuilt or not run for a while then I'd say get some miles on it and see if it clears or gets better first ?.
If it's still bad then it should be something simple like needle position.
Main jet doesn't really come into full play until 3/4 throttle upwards, so unless it's massively too big then it shouldn't cause mid-range slutter
