Hi,
could someone explain to me what the 'clear line method' is for setting lc 4lo float heights? Gasket in, gasket out, measure from where to where?
thanks, J

cant remember the exact measurement but it involves fitting a clear line to the overflow spigot on the bowl and sitting it vertically.
you then open the drain screw and it will show the level ov fuel in the float chamber. good for getting them identical

Hi, They say a picture speaks a thousand words, here are a few pics of when I did it. Gaskets in, and carbs all build up as normal. All the clear line does, is show you the exact level of fuel inside the float bowl. If you do them like this, you can also check your carbs for leaks and check that your float valves are not passing before fitting the carbs to the bike. If you look at the last picture I have posted, you will see that the LC carbs have a notch or cut out on the side, Iv never seen it written down anywhere, but these notches can only be for using the clear pipe method for checking your float height. Hold the clear pipe next to the notch, and that is the 21mm measurement, where your float level should be. steven.

I just love any picture which has an LC engine sat on a coffee table in someone's lounge. Great stuff and good advice too.

Yes, thanks Steven. Luvvin the machined brackets to do the float height check/adjust. Brilliant...... Hi, Thats the wee tool I made to set my float heights with. Hopefuly the pics will show how it works, Iv posted them before on here im sure. Basicaly, you bolt the tool to the arse of the carb, then connect a piece of plastic tube to the fuel inlet on the carb. You then put the piece of plastic tube in your gub and blow !!! As the float is down, you can blow air through the carb, you then adjust the cap screw on the tool, which lifts the float. You keep raising the float with the cap screw until the float valve closes, and you cant blow any more. You can then take a measument with a ruler or vernier of your float height and adjust it to 21 mm as required. I set mine like this, then checked them using the clear pipe method and all was well. steven.
