Hi, There are bushes in the 4L1 / 4L0 forks. They are in the top of the lower fork legs, just below where the fork seal goes, there is one bush per fork. They are not available as a seperate part, if you want new bushes, you have to buy complete lower legs. There are no available off the shelf DU type bushes the correct length, DU is that plasic type coating on the bushes that have a 32mm i/d and are 15mm long on an LC. The nearest off the shelf bush is 32 20 DU. The bushes in the LC forks are 32mm i/d and 15mm long. I got hold of some 32 20 DU bushes, and made a tool to hold them in the lathe while I cut them to 15mm long, to convert them to 32 15 DU if you will....ie....32mm id and 15mm long. I also made a tool to re insert the new bushes into the lower fork legs. The tool for re fitting them is just a press type tool, and you pass a long length of M8 screwed rod right through the fork and using a nut and washer at each end, draw the new bushes in using the tool. I also machined the press tool to accept the fork seals as well, so as I could draw them in also, as hammering or knocking them in was a bit too crude for my liking ! The origonal bush is a split bush, as are the new DU bushes, to get the old ones out, I just cut another split in the bush using a dremmel, and the two halfs of the old bushes fell out. DU bushes are readily available and are used in various places in industry, they are not expensive and I got mine from Wyco, or was it Eriks?, any bearing supplyier will be able to get hold of 32 20 DU bushes. I origonaly did this about 10 years ago or so, and Im sure I wrote an article for the LC Club magazine at the time about it. I have done a few sets of forks like this now, and had no problems at all. Iv got some better pics somewhere, but its so long ago mabey the pics are on my old computer? Here are a few quick pics I took just now, I have two sets left, but those are my own lifetimes supply of 32 15 DU LC fork bushes, I recon two sets will see me ok,lol... any machining shop will be able to cut 5mm off the 32 20 bushes with ease. steven. ps, the pics are a bit pants, but Im sure you get the idea.

That's superb info! Many thanks steven!! It is strange that they are not available, Norbs has them for the 125 in his shop. Maybe Yamaha thought these items would last the lifetime of the bike, not expecting the bikes to be up and running 30yrs later. Thanks again!
