Yeh I think I will use decent gearbox oil. The haynes manual say 10w 30 engine oil. ?

dont use engine oil. they have a friction inhibitor that can mess with the clutch plates and cause clutch slip.

Best to avoid using Car engine oils, as they aren't designed to work with wet clutches.
You can use Mineral oils but best is a Gear Oil specifically designed for 2-stroke gearboxes like Silkolene Light Gear Oil or Motul Transoil.
Having said that, I have quite a few 2-strokes and many of them have been running for years run Tesco 10w/40 mineral without any problems

Motul 5100 is a motorcycle engine oil designed for wet clutches, my r1 has a wet clutch, engine and gearbox all in the same oil, used 510 for the last 10 years in both 2 stroke gear box and r1 and exup 1000 with no probs. A friend of mine did 60,000 miles on a gsxr600 all he used was comma car engine oil semi, clutch fine, makes you wonder if its worth buying bike specific oil?

Yeah most motorcycle specific oils will be fine, just NOT most car oils, as the oil isn't designed to come into contact with clutches.
I normally use gearbox specific oils on my more highly strung 2-strokes, cos that's specifically what it's designed for and costs no more than a good quality 4-stroke motorcycle engine oil anyway. On my older 2-strokes (X7's etc.), I just use cheap mineral oils and they have been fine for years.
One thing about 4-stroke engine oils is they have additives to cope with the extreme temperatures they are subjected to, whereas the gearbox specific oils aren't subject to extreme temperatures and have different friction additives.
To pays your money, you takes your choice.....lol

i use motul 710 in the oil tank, overkill for a 125lc but its all about choice and money at £16 lt, i change the motul 5100 in the gear box every 1000 miles

Yeah I also use fully synthetic 2-stroke oil (always red in colour) in all my 2-strokes but normally use Wemoto's own, which is £7.80 per litre.
My 125LC has had some serious abuse over the last 3 years running on that oil, so no reason to think it's not as good as any other fully synthetic.
There's only so many oil companies producing 2-stroke oils, so half of it is re-branded stuff from major oil companies !.
Even Heine Gerricke's (now sadly gone) own branded oils were Motul, just half the price....lol

May give that vision stuff a go looey at £7.80 a litre only £3 postage for 2 litres a bargain. Ive seen the stuff before but did not know anyone who used it.

It's no Castrol R but it smells pretty good like most fully synthetic oils do.
I either stock up when I'm buying something else from them, or buy 5 litres at a time (their postage is pretty reasonable even bulky items)

I use Putoline Light Gear Oil in the gearbox.
