I currently have the original headlight and bulb on my mk3 rd125lc. The amount of light that it omits onto the road is quite poor so I was wondering about the best way to improve it? Would I need to buy a complete new headlight unit or is there another way to convert to a halogen or xenon bulb?

STOLE THIS FROM WIKIPEDIA. high intensity discharge lamps (HID lamps) are a type of electrical gas-discharge lamp which produces light by means of an electric arc between tungsten electrodes housed inside a translucent or transparent fused quartz or fused alumina arc tube. This tube is filled with both gas and metal salts. The gas facilitates the arc's initial strike. Once the arc is started, it heats and evaporates the metal salts forming plasma, which greatly increases the intensity of light produced by the arc and reduces its power consumption. High-intensity discharge lamps are a type of arc lamp.
High-intensity discharge lamps make more visible light per unit of electric power consumed than fluorescent and incandescent lamps since a greater proportion of their radiation is visible light in contrast to infrared.

Not sure the LC battery (or wiring) is up to it, I think they take large ammounts of current to fire up, but then are ok when 'running' and up to temp?

HID's draws less power from your system than your current headlight bulb does. The biggest probelm on smallish bikes, is where to fit the ballast unit. I had twin headlight on my Aprilia RS250. There was a split second delay between low and main beam, which was nerve racking on an unlit roads, but you can now buy all in one H4 conversion kits. You would be amazed at the difference they make. Most small bikes are fitted with them as standard in China. HID lights, synthetic oils, better tyre technology, etc. These are all hidden improvements we can use today and puts less stress on older bikes.

ive fitted hid to 3 bikes all very good make sure you get the ones that plug into you light bulb connection and not straight to your battery then you wont get any flickering and they use less than standard bulb also should be easy to fit to a rd under the tank alot easier than a cruiser
