Just noticed on my mk 1 125 lc that the reed block has no stop plates fitted (the plates that stop the petals flexing to much). The bike is mid overhaul in the garage at the moment and was just flicking through the haynes and noticed that it should have them. Bike seemed to run fine so is this some kind of mod that someone has been done or should I be looking for some plates to fit or maybe a new block or just leave as it is ? If it is really needed and just been a bad mod then does anybody have some spare ones lurking around for a sensible price. Dont wanna kill the bike before I have time to enjoy it. Cheers gary

Do you have metal petals or are they a carbon affair like hitec or bouysen reeds if you have the metal ones yiu should have the guards on but i know all those years ago i had dual stage bouysen reeds snd they said to remove the guards

Not sure what exact material but deffo not metal.some kind of plastic or similar material so yeh poss carbon. And yes poss dual stage then as they have a full size flap and another smaller flap inside if that makes sense. So these should be ok without the guards and then yeh ?

Thats a bonus then. A power mod that dont cost me is always a good mod in my mind.

i personally wouldnt run an engine without reed stops,i have just stripped 2 cr250 engines one had stops the other didnt but i did notice that the set of reeds using no stops had a line appearing on them which looks like the start of a fracture point.if you think the stops will restrict flow open them up to around 12mm.if they do break you have to remember they will going right through your motor?
