Newbie here !! Use site quiet a bit but just been in background, and I must say site is ace !! Bought an EU 250lc a while ago and really just got round to messing with it, Carbs on bike are marked 4l1 00 which I think is correct for a 250 , confusing bit is that the main jets appear ( my eye sights failing ) 160, is this right Haynes says 190,, bike is a 1984 model but would expect bits to of been sourced from anywhere,,

According to the Genuine Yamaha Workshop manual the 250 4L1-00 carbs should be fitted with 190 main jets as you say. 160 main jets were fitted to the early 350 4lO-00 carbs.

I've got 200s in mine, which is standard apart from a small amount of porting done by the last owner and it runs great. To be honest it a science I don't fully understand so whilst its running right I'm leaving well alone.

As far as I'm aware, most of the German 250's were fitted with restricted 4L2 carbs and 4L2 exhausts, so if you have a 4L1 carb it may have been added later. 160 main jets were used on early 350 4L0 00 carbs, later uprated to 220's with the $l) 00 type. Just check your carb isn't the early 350 pne. It could be just the jets were changed.
also check you haven't got the 4L2 exhausts on it. If so, you may want to change or modify those.
