Hi Guys, A few weeks ago I asked about modern calipers for my 31K YPVS. Happy to say I got fixed up with a nice set of R1 Blue spots for reasonable money. Now I've come to fit them I realise that there is no provision for mirror mounting on the R1 master cylinder that came with them. Stupid or what??? Question is 2 fold. What will happen if I try to run the original 31K master cylinder? and is there someting else I can use instead? Fazer or R6 maybe? I know I've read somewhere on here that there is a ratio between master cylinder and caliper efficiency but I can't find it now and probably wouldn't understand it anyway. Help/advice please.

I don't see any issue running them with the original 31K 5/8" master cylinder personally, I'd give it a trial at least before being overly concerned.

AFAIK the R1 master cylinder has a 14mm bore, the YPVS has 5/8" (roughly 16mm). You may find the YPVS master cylinder a bit wooden.

Used the Fazer master on my 31k.
Has the mirror mount and looks in keeping with the bike.
I used 6 pots and it will stop just looking at the lever, have to warn anybody having a go but no excessive travel.

I might have a simple solution...... Why not use one of those universal mirror clamps that clamp onto the handle bars? That way you can keep the r1 matter cylinder, if you have room of course on your handlebars!
