DO NOT USE Mr Muscle Oven cleaner , its corrosive and will just attack your plastic.

I've seen something recently where a heat gun was used very carefully on some thing like an air box (dimpled finish) Can't remember where the article was, but I think the bike was a Suzuki.

I've used a heat gun on my VW transporter bumpers and tried it on my LC air box. It works well but you need to be careful nut to melt it!! Try a hidden bit first.

I also used a heatgun on an old very faded headlight bowl, came up quite good in the end, did it a couple of times as I was unsure of how to do it. Also use furniture polish on most of my stuff, seems to last ok, and give a nice finish too, tried T-cut before, but it just filled the 'grain' and turned it white

The alternative to dishwasher is fairly liquid & a scrubbing brush. Finish off with silicon spray oil.
I cleaned by barrels in the diswasher - came up a treat, but there was a funny smell for a while!
Joking apart, be careful in the dishawasher as they can get pretty hot. A mudguard may be better on the Eco cycle!
