Ok so in the other thread the engine is now built,so any advice on a good set up.
The bike is a 2hk mk3 so its a non working powervalve with a standard bore, and i will be running it with a standard airbox but using a giannelli exhaust 1.where would you have the valve fixed, closed, half open,or fully open? 2.what size carb jets would you go for? 3.would you use fibre racing reeds or the standard metal ones? 4.any other advice?
cheers guys/gals

1: Although 125's do have poor bottom end power and the YPVS has a higher ex-port duration than LC, which doesn't exactly help it, I'd still lock the valve fully open. 2: That depends on what carb you have. If (!) you have a 10W carb, I'd say you could start at something like 200, and go down in jet size until you find the correct one. Most likely it will land on 180-ish, but it's always wise to start rich and go down in size. Different carbs use different main jet sizes though so make sure you get it right. There should be a thread in the tech section about this. 3: Steel or fibre reeds doesn't really matter. Some people are paranoid about steel reeds breaking, causing damage to the engine, and although they are right, they probably forget the fact that pieces of fibre glass or carbon fibre can ALSO cause a tremendous ammount of engine damage if you're unlucky. Therefore, the only truly relevant question is what reeds that will give you the best power. The stiffer the reeds are, the better they will be for high RPM's, and vice versa. Well, generally speaking anyway.. 4: Hmmm... If you're using the oil pump, you could run the first few minutes with about 2% premix, as it takes a while for the oil to be pumped out through the oil feed hose. Other than that I can't think of anything.

I have a mk3 with small can allspeed, valve pinned open, fibre reeds, st air box, 180 main with powerjet tzr125 carb, or with powerjet off, 200 main jet, oil pump turned up a tad, and a splash of oil in the tank, 15t front 46r, does 90 in 6th and im 14.5 st. If you block powerjet off same as mk3 rd carb then.

Keep an eye on your plug, all bikes are different due to wear age etc, gianelli pipes are well powerful at top end so you may have to jet a lot bigger, also they run hotter downpipe a bit thinner than a allspeed, mates mk1 dynos at 24bhp, all standard apart from pipe and reeds.
