According to this it's an early N2 and everything in the pics suggests that too. Don't know why he's referring to it as a 31K? rd350lc.net/pageVIN.htm

Yep, Numbers indicate it's and N2 and it looks like it's all there and fairly original (if you ignore the paint job & seat!)
What is all this barn find bollox?! Clearly he didn't find it in a barn..... Do people use this a a search string on ebay?

wow, that reg number don't half sound familiar rich, did it ever live in south wales at any time??? I live in East Sussex and sold it to a mate in 1988 when I started driving so where it's been since then is anyone's guess! It was originally white and red but I painted the wheels white and calipers gold. It's also showing as yellow now but I don't know when it was painted?

It's been delivered on Friday. He still thinks it's a 31K. He says it's got 31k all over it.Do the heads have 31K cast in? I think I have bought a N2. Going to do it in the white colours. I think.

Well botty what ya got? Didnt look too bad taking the sellers ad & the posts into account...a gem or a turd? It's not too bad. Needs a few parts which have been broken. Throttle and choke are solid. They won't move at all. So it's safe to say it hasn't run in a long time. All I all. It's what I expected. I'll put some pics up soon.

Well botty what ya got? Didnt look too bad taking the sellers ad & the posts into account...a gem or a turd? First thing to hit me was the exhausts. How can they be like that. Footrest hanger had only one bolt in so had dropped. Sorted now. Generally in ok condition, considering the price.A good start for a resto.Covered in over spray. It was stored in a body shop. Few broken bits. Need to get it running to really find out what I have.

It's not looking good at the moment. Tried to start it today. First kick it fired once didn't start, then nothing. Removed the plugs. They were flooded. With WATER. Kicked the bike over without plugs. Cleaned plugs, fired, nothing. Flooded again with water. Rusty coloured water has started dripping from the headers. Could it possibly be water in the exhausts. Or more likely to be a head gasket gone? Seems to have decent compression Only wanted to see if it ran before I strip it down. The left hand carb looked like this before I cleaned it out. Any one got an idea what the problem is likely to be? Before I try again. And just rip it apart for a rebuid

At least it is turning over and not seized. Personally wouldn't start it with all that crap in the system, you might knacker something that is okay at the moment.
Good Luck.

Look at it. Took the top end off and found this. So need a crank and barrels at the very least. Although I might get away with a hone on the barrels, on +2.00 already. So as previously asked in the thread. Gem or turd? I think the latter at the moment, however once the engine is sorted. The rest is "just" refurbishment. I hope.

Hi, Big engine strip coming up then ! I would try and reclaim the barrels if they are not pitted with rust - the pistons look fairly clean of carbon so maybe it did have a top end build before storing. Crank will be between £220- 250 exchange or rebuild. I would rebuild the engine complete whilst it's apart. You can still get all the bits but it's not cheap. Ultrasonically clean the carbs, probably a couple of times and see if they can be salvaged. I did have some 31k carbs once that had corroded so badly that the main jet housing had broken away.
Good luck
Dusty

It looks like it hasn't run since being built, you may well find the top end OK, crank will need checking / rebuilding if its been waterlogged, but that top end looks fresh once the gunge is cleaned off.
