I purchased this of a local non member and he has had it for 10 years. Over the 10 years he had striped it and had been collecting NOS parts but earlier in the year he decided to sell it to me. It came with New Old Stock exhausts, front and rear mudguards, front and rear master cylinders, loom, idiot cluster, levers plus loads more NOS. The powder coating had been done and all chrome had been done. The engine cases and cards had been vapour blasted and RDnuts build the engine on standard bore a few years ago. Callipers had been stove enamelled and I just needed to get new pistons and seals. I have been collecting the missing bits and working on the bits that were not done all over the summer. The seat is now finished and Custom Painter (Tony Collins) has finished the paint set (Marine Blue) Engine side casings have been stove enamelled. Here is how it looks with a days work on the rebuild today. NOS genuine mudguards painted on the inside for protection. Very nice chassis number 1A3-000860 that's 760th of the production line Here are some of the parts I have been working on over the summer ready to fit. New Old Stock pipes still in the Yamaha boxes. NOS wheels but I am not using these. I will be using these NOS spoke set Dave Cumbria laced up for me this summer, there all ready to fit now. This is about as close as I can get to the paint set at the moment but its ready to go on. I hope to get the front end in next week.

I have spent the odd hour here and there when I time spare and got a rolling chassis. These are NOS barrels, pistons and rings, its a shame to start the bike with these on. I popped into the garage just to have a look the other day and came out 4 hours later. Theres a visitor in the garage at the moment as well. I will fit the pipes next then the headlight bowl and wire it up, I hate that bit. Then I need to do the timing, bleed the brakes, fit the tank and then see if it goes, more photos next week. Problem is this was my winter project so what am I going to do on those long winter night? Maybe Project X can go on the ramp..

One red one, one white one and one with a bit of shite on. I hate this job. But after a couple of attempts and moving a few wires everything works well. I must remember to wire up the rear brake pressure switch before fitting the master cylinder next time, you cant get to the wires after its been built. No issues with the electrics now and I have a decent spark. Just waiting for a new throttle cable and I will be ready to start it up..

Paul, just remember, red to black = blue to bits. Wiring is the easy bit! Unless your colour blind that is.

Problem is with these is that it was a NOS wiring loom so all colours were good but on the other wires the dark green looked black the light blue looked dark blue then I did not notice the yellow had a res stripe in it. Got there in the end..

This morning I had time to sort the timing After a couple of kicks it fired into life. It idled well and sounded good but after a few minutes there was a slight rattle. This engine was already built when I purchased it and RDnuts had built the bottom end some 10 years ago. RDnuts thinks its the little end bearing on the right side so I have ordered a new set and I will try and get that done next week. Other than that its all finished and I have sent of for the registration today.

Sorry to say this but the colour dont look right to me as the blue is to dark and more like the "D" version blue, i had a 76 400C back in the day and it had original paint which had more of a green hue to the colour hence the "Marine" name for the colour.

Nice touch with the trim on the tank seam Paul. That will save some paint chips when struggling to get tank on and off

This is the Marine blue and we used a old original tank for the colour match. Its almost green. I have a D model with the other blue on it and yes its more a bluey blue rather than the green. This paint looks more greeny in the garage, I think its just the photo.
