Is it possible to adjust the timing on a mk1 rd125lc? Is there any movement on the stator plate to advance or retard the timing? If not what could cause the timing to be slightly out?

It is to a point - have a read of my DT125LC thread - mine was advanced, despite as Norbo quite correctly says, being non adjustable. Basically, if you move the stator, pickup and flywheel to the limit of its clearance the wrong way (if that makes sense) it could be too advanced. This is the thread: rdlccrazy.proboards.com/thread/21372/dt-melted-piston-updated

Thanks, that dt thread was really interesting. I've now ordered a dial gauge from yambits and I'm hoping to find my timing is out. That way at least I can hopefully get rid of the bloody detonation in top gear. Thanks again Billbot.
