hi i have a powervalve engine i bought about 18 months ago.it is drained of water but still has oil in it.it was a runner before it was laid up.it has been in a clean, dry enviroment under my bench. what do you recommend i do before i put back into the frame-would you recommend a total strip and clean or just put it back with fresh oil and run it first. thanks in advance-

For me this would depend on whether I had heard it running and know its history and what your intention is for the bike.. Assuming you have not I would stick it in the frame start it up first to see how things sounds and perform. Once you know what's working we'll and whats not your better placed to sort it. E.g if it had a problem with a gear your not going to know about it till you try the motor out - better to know all its issues and rebuild once if you have too.
