Hello everybody,
I'm Michael, 21 years old and live in Germany. About a month ago I bought a RD 125 LC MK1 (German version, so it's a 10W), which I check now for problems. Hope you guys can help me with some of them.
1.) Recently, I wanted to change all fluids, but I had problems with the transmission oil: There was only about 250 cm³ oil in the gear chamber, when I removed the drain plug. When I filled the new oil into the engine, there fitted again only 250 cm³ until the level window said there is enough oil inside... Should I just fill the correct 550 cm³ of oil in it and wait/run the engine or could there be anything else wrong inside the engine?
2.) The carburetor seems to be a wrong one... It is marked as "11Y-00". Does anybody know if this is the right one for the German variant?
Greetings

The carb on your bike is correct this carb was fitted to some German bikes in fact I have one myself, To answer your other question you should put the 550cl of oil into it.

Thanks for the fast answer! Do you have the jetting for this type of carb? If not, can you check yours and tell me the jet sizes?

When I bought the carb it came with a 155 main jet. I have replaced that to a 170 main jet as I have changed the pipe reeds etc. I find my bike is a lot faster on the 11y carb than the 10w or 12a and would recommended that carb to anyone. What jet is in yours ?

There was a 140 jet installed, with that the engine just turned till 8500 RPM, maximum speed 115km/h. I replaced it now with a 155 jet, I'll report the differences.

I've got a matching numbers MK1 10W bike and I've got an 11Y carb fitted with a 170 main, std airbox (with Pipercross element) and Micron pipe and it goes better with the 11Y carb than either a 10W or 12A carb (both jetted correctly obviously)

So, after a long time test with the 155 main jet, I have to say that I couldn't notice any differences to the 140 jet... Engine still revs only to about maximum 8500 rpm, after 7500 rpm it's loosing power dramatically... I made a power measurement in 2. gear, picture of it is in the attachment. The engine's fuel consumption is high too, it takes 5L/100km, these are approx. 56 mpg, without tuning parts. I read it should take about 76-79 mpg... What could there be possibly wrong with the engine? Maybe these two problems are connected? Maybe the piston and/or the rings are worn-down because they rattle at certain revs? Greetings Attachments:

Anybody who knows what I should check when the engine looses power in high revs?
Anyways, how do I remove the silencer in a std MK1 pipe?
Greetings
