nice but it will be better with out that fairing theres a c**kpit fairing in those colours on ebay Those full fairings have grown on me. They are the same stying as the 350 F1 (but with a more touring style screen) which is a good looking bike. Much better looking than the fairing fitted to the Wrangler bikes and these are quality plastic not fiber glass. for the original look he'll need a chrome headlamp bracket, Belly pan and the cokpit fairing I converted one, headlamp bracket alone was £150 as the used ones need re-chroming anyway. Still looking for decals. Its potentially a £300 conversion.

so i have just taking the bike apart for closer inspection. the carb is a 1GU 00 26mm with it looks like a 200 main jet. (standard air box + filter element is missing! wanting to get a bit more power out of it is it only revs to 8000 rpm i have a couple pipes in bad condition both with BS stamps the micron has a three stage baffle system and the allspeed to straight pipe but it goes far in to the down pipe chamber. do i need to re jet if i pipe one of these pipes one using standard air box? its been nearly 20 years since i last played with these bikes so i have lost touch. should i mods these pipes? i know the micron needs new baffles me thinks. should i cut down the baffles in the allspeed? hope this isn't to much text

Have a look on your exhaust hanger. Is it stamped 1GX? that is restricted for the peace loving countries like Scandinavia, Switzerland etc. Sometimes they're already removed, but in between the silencer and main pipe theres a noise restrictor that gives an extra 500RPM. Also look at the baffle, these are heavily restricted too. You can drill 3 holes approx 10-12mm (1 in each section) near the join to allow a straight flow. There could also be a smaller pipe in the front of the pipe which if removed will give a bit more top end but lose a bit of low down torque.
Edit: you should have a 190 main jet with an air filter. At most I would drill a couple of holes adjacent to the snorkel. Also check your powervalve isn't badly oiled and coked up (the better looked after bikes are often ridden too tamely and they need a good clearout)

i have checked the pipe and it says yamaha 1GU 14711

Check the stamp on the hanger it will be different. 1GV, 1GX etc Loosen off the footpeg hangers and unbolt pipe there and you will see a stamp. I will do a write up on these pipes, as I've bought a YPVS bike from my retired friend who's owned it from new with full service history so a good chance to compare completely standard. But as I mentioned before, I did the noise restrictor write up on the other forum many years ago. Approx 500RPM gain and it really isn't that much noisier.

yes its the same pipe. i have been at it with some old school tools. mainly a hammer taken washer out of front pipe (bottom of first pic) plus where you said the end can meets. (top of first pic)
there was also some kind of CAT or meshing in the rear of the system pipe. ( the internal baffles are deep in the front pipe) then i cut off the end part of the can baffles see below i can see there are more still on the can but it will do for the min. now time for her to test ride it. thanks for your help museumman

Make sure she gets out on the bike regular. My mrs bike hasn't done 500miles yet!!! (New in 08) Its been a combination of bad weather & work that's stopped her. When she has the time it always seems to rain and its not poss to use it for work because of the equipment she has to carry.
