How much difference is there between the rd 10w barrel and the dt 10v barrel? I'm not holding out much hope of ever getting my original 10w barrel back from Road & Dirt Performance bikes so I'm thinking of fitting a 10v barrel i have in the garage. Will I even notice any difference?

the 10v (dt) is ported differently and doesnt rev as high from what im led to believe.

If the fact it won't rev as high is the disadvantage, are there any advantages to fitting the 10v barrel? More torque or mid range power maybe? Or is it just a bad idea full stop?

from what i am led to believe.......the bike wont rev past 6k and will run like a bag of shite. As for advantage of more torque/bottom end.....they dont have any anyway so doubt it will improve

Has anyone else got more specific details on the difference between 10w and 10v barrels? Is it just the exhaust port that is different and can it be modified to suit a Rd?

if memory serves me right the exhaust port is a tiny fraction higher

It would probably be too much hassle to modify them, but if all the 10W barrels ran out, in theory you could use epoxy resin to fill the different ports then re port it for the RD. I know a guy from the Kart Racing days who used to re-tune motorcross barrels this way for enduro racing.
I will be selling complete 10W motors in the next few weeks if you're desperate to get running.
Billy Sullivan knows all the differences between barrels and has probably tried them. He turned up at my place on an RD with DT200R engine. Also pointed out to me the differences with the two types of 10W barrels that I hadn't noticed.
