Damage to middle of a painted panel. Rub down through to plastic. Put on some plastic primer then prime paint. Always where the old paint flats back into bare plastic there is a reaction and bubbling. It is like the plastic primer is only good on bare plastic. Any advice to avoid this?

I had the same on a bellypan last year, was told to strip it all off and start again (after I'd spent £45 on new spray cans, this was from the guys in the paint suppliers.) Think you can get 'isolating or masking primer' (or something like that) that seals existing paint, but you will still need to do it all again. I've just had the same reaction on a tank I've just painted, took two weeks to get where I am, and now got to strip it all off, and get back to the primer.

With the new paints now its absolutly esential to clean really well b4 application. Any trace of oil or silicone which is in so many products will cause a fish eye effect. Clean with anygood paint prep cleaner, really well guys.

2k primer may be the way to go ,always had this problem myself, bought the barcoat in aerosol and it made no difference , i always clean with panelwipe before spraying so it aint that ! bodyshops dont get this problem and these use mostly 2 pack
