hi all,i kmow its prob been asked a thousand times already ,but whats the best paint for std exhausts.can they be powdercoated?

The BBQ paint that you get from the hardware shop works really well.Unsure about powdercoating hopefully someone else can help you with that.

You can usually powder coat the rear 1/2 to 2/3 of them and finish the front section in barbeque paint. Front section too hot for it, even the heat resistant stuff can bubble on the down pipe. The powder coat is good at covering any minor surface imperfections from repair and sanding/grinding. Here's one done in matt black powder. Steve

I have seen some that were fully powder coated and they seemed to be okay. Perhaps it depends on who does the work and the meterial used....

Had mine powder coated also, lasted about 13 miles before bubling off !

BBQ satin black, got mine off flea bay, had to put 3 coats on but they look great!

just been up to local powdercoaters waiting for quote for exhaust, matt or satin? what sort of quotes are camcoat giving for exhausts ,might give them a shout postie just been just got pump ,fan flippin tastic ,thanks

I had a set of pipes coated in high temperature powder coating for my tdr250 by ian at uni spray at Thorpe arch near wetherby, the powder coating stayed on fine but the first section went a kind of milky black but stayed on, just sprayed over that section with bar b que paint and are still fine after 5 years.
