Im going to fit new clutch plates this week as clutch is slipping. my question is do i put in standard plates and springs or uprated and which make and what are the pros and cons of each? bike is standard at mo but i intend to medium/fast road tune in the winter should i put standard in now and uprate when i tune or do now for the future and should i replace the basket as well? im trying to improve as i do if i can!! Thanks kevin

Hi Kevin, I own a few LC,s and one I have mildly tuned.....Reed windows cut back...stops opened up.....mild fettling to exhaust ports and transfer ports....Allspeeds and to be honest the standard clutch and springs work fine for moderate road use!If you are going to completely thrash the bike at a circuit or trackday on a regular basis then maybe consider uprated plates and springs but in my experience a standard clutch will do the job!! Make sure if fitting new plates you soak them well before you fit them into the basket!! Hope this is of use to you and best of luck!!:-)

and dont use synthetic gear box oil, as that will cause it to slip

i put stronger springs in,(claimed 10%) and made the clutch pull much harder on my bike at least, put a set of gen yam ones back in , nice light clutch and no slip
