Hi Guy's, I received a pump today from a forum member. The bike is a 350lc (4LO). On receiving the pump it was found to be a 250 item and as such is not fit for use on the 350 engine. It would appear that the bike is a 250 conversion and we have no other history. There may be a lot more bikes out there like this and the worst thing that can happen is the rider may loose his life if the motor goes bang at the wrong time. My bike is not kept here but I will devise a simple check, without taking the pump off the bike, (tomorrow if I can) so that you can check if you have the correct 350 pump on your 4LO. This is by no means a sales ploy as I don't have any 350 pumps, its a safety message. Watch this space.

Ok, here is a simple definitive check. On the 350LC with the idle speed at 1200 rpm the plunger shaft will move out approx. 80 times in one minute. If the bike is wrongly fitted with a 250 pump and worm the plunger shaft will move out 58 times at the same idle speed. Actual amounts will vary slightly due to slight variations in idle speed, but should be no more than +/- 5 at a guess.

Yeah you can add my name to this list, found out today through arrow my 350 has a 250 pump!! mine is not a converted 250 so can only assume as arrow pointed out at some point in its life the casing has been changed for a 250 and no one bothered to check the pump!
On a slightly better note it can only be the castrol power 1 I've been using thats probably saved the day.......
Thanks Arrow
