My mate owns a Yamaha dealership in poole so if I did get done would be done properly, where would I stand if I did not get them done,in my eyes these cases are rare as hens teeth?

all jap imports have no engine numbers, so not a problem. Better with no restamping.

Will always look slightly dodgy if they have been stamped (even though they are not).

I'd have them stamped, a matching numbers bike is worth more than one that isn't/ and you won't want to be stamping them once fitted to the bike.
Theyre only worth lots when not fitted to something...

How would you know that it's been re-stamped if the correct font stamps were used? 4L0 cases were stamped by hand.....

Suppose if it was done properly you wouldn't tell, but restamping I've seen examples of has been pretty amateurish or obvious.

the old cases were damaged due to chain snapping,so no one is riding around with numbers,
