Mine was like that , bit of 320 wet & dry with some wd40 to take ant high spots off Some will say nay

It looks like the piston has given its self up to the god of speed? As long as the sealing face is okay, just clean it up with wet and dry and rebuild it, Check for cracks

I've seen worse used, however get it off to someone like Bob Farnham/ Mick Abbey and get it reprofiled and skimmed for better compression and narrower squish, as standard they are high on the volume and too wide on the squish.

Find a 'decent' Moto machinest anfd have then reprofile the comb chamber and match the squish band to the curve of your pistons. Setting comp and squish clearance at the same time. Well worth doing. Typical cost (on this side of the Atlantic) is ~$100 Not gbps :-).

mind you, Im not one to speek, got a head Glyn machined to 21cc and O ringed for no head gasket and still not put it on after having it done in 2010!
