as with anything buy the best you can afford AND buy new as to get a good warranty. make model etc, its up to personal preference some people swear buy some makes over others, to me i only get AMD processors as they are the fastest and can do more "work" at any one time (networking).
each to there own i suppose dial up is sooooooooooo slow, i have 2 meg broad band, bloody fast near instant response.

thanks mate,i know dial up is realy slow but as i wont have to be paying the bill for it il have to put up with it unfortuantly. so as long as its got a warrenty i should be ok,i just dont want to get ripped of by a spotty computer geek in my local pc world. as long as i can put the occasional picture on a few sites and use evilbay il be happy,im not even going to bother with youtube etc with my poverty spec dial up

To be honest mate....have a look round ASDA....they do cheap gear and no quibble guarantees too......PC World eat your heart out !
Broadband is as cheap these days as dial-up....and in some areas cheaper ! , have a shop round mate.
Jamie is right about the AMD processors too mate.....I had one of those Intel dual-core jobbies.....5.6 GHz....it was shite !
I went out and bought a new AMD 64 X2 which is only about 4.2 GHz and it runs double the speed of the Intel ones....with no crashing
AVOID INTEL AT ALL COSTS !.....they overheat easy too
