Hi, Starting to think about getting the KR hybrid re registered if I can. It's a Q reg, and the date of first registration on the V5c is 23-5-84. This is a 4LO205*** frame number. On the front of the V5c, section 3 (special notes), it states; Non transferable registration mark Rebuilt-Assembled from parts some or all of which were not new.
This is basically a 350lc with a Ypvs engine fitted. I know the reg goes with the frame, and the frame is standard Yam, so do you think it would be possible to get an age related plate back onto the bike. I know I need a dating letter, insurance, mot and an inspection, but the last Q reg bike I had was a long time ago and I never bothered changing it. I have insured the bike already, by swapping the Gsx insurance across to cover the Lc, and Peter James Insurance were happy to cover it as long as it wasn't an insurance write off. I would prefer to get an age related plate on it but would like an idea if it's going to be possible. Any thoughts ?
Cheers
Dusty

no I dont think you can as its a Q plate because it was rebuilt with different parts. Only way may be to make it with standard origonal parts, which I dont think you can do with YPVS engine fitted, and then convert it back if they age related plate it. Get a UK regesterd frame and swap it over. Call DVLA and ask if its possible, Im helping a mate get a 93 CRM250 off a Q but its only on it as its an exMOD vehicle and was Q plated when disposed of in 2000, local office have said no problem with dating letter in that case as its as it left the factory.

Hi, That's what I was thinking . Trouble is, UK frames are thin on the ground and seemingly very expensive now. My frame is in excellent, original condition, and I was keen to re register it if I could. I was hoping that an engine change wouldn't affect the frame number. Cheers Dusty

dont know if you could unregester it as if its been exported and then re regester with a dating letter.

Hi, Will give DVLA a ring again, but haven't found them particularly helpful in the past, and never seem to get a definitive answer from them Cheers Dusty
