Do you get random offers from people you meet to buy your RD?
I've only had my current LC since last Aug and I have probably had a half dozen random people ask if I wanted to sell the bike. The last was yesterday afternoon when we stopped at a local bike store.
I find it a bit amusing and I suppose it feeds the ego a bit to know my bike is desirable enough to pull this kid of response from other bikers. At the same time it's not like there are no other LCs available in this country or even this city. I know there are at least 2 or 3 other LCs on Kijiji located in the city.

I had 2 offers for mine before it was on the road , one by the Wurth rep and another by a friend of the guy working on the bike.
Christ knows that the offers would have been but its taken a couple of years to actually having an RD V5 in my name so I wasnt going to let it go quite that easily..

Here on the Wet Coast LC's are Loow valued. Yes people admire but the prices suggested don't even cover the engine rebuild let alone everything else. Depressingly low values actually. There's no restoring an LC for even a fraction of costs incurred let alone profit :-) What prices were you offered ? simple curiosity.

I have never talked price with anyone cause I'm not interested in selling. I do see LCs on Kijiji at some pretty hefty prices these days. There is a fairly nice '82 with matching numbers and an asking price of $5500 currently.

Thanks.. Yikes! That seems wayyy higher than in Vancouver... notably more than double actually. A friend recently bought a running/ridable fair to decent condition Marsbar for less than $500 and claimed he paid too much.. because he had to have it. Also there are a surprising number lurking around in garages and basements. Neither overly rare nor uncommon. I know of 6 such, within a 2 mile radius. Also, not to forget that those Advert sites charge Zero to advertise on them, consequently prices are often (too?) laughable 'fishing' adventures. Why not? It's dead easy with only a few moments on a keyboard required My Lc's are matching numbers, 3 owner examples. No way that I could get even close to that price, for.. Both..of them. Should I want to :-).

A friend recently bought a running/ridable fair to decent condition Marsbar for less than $500 and claimed he paid too much.. because he had to have it. Tell him I'll give him $600 for it. I wouldn't half mind a spare parts bike. I need an unmolested LC frame. Probably not but if they are nice they would be in the $4K range easily. I paid $3700 for a totally rebuild bitsa bike and haven't seen one as nice since. There is a total POS LC listed in Calgary for the same price which blows my mind.

Just joined today, I'm in Sydney, Australia, and had one of the first LC250's when they came out here in late 1980, bought it brand new from Macklin Motorcycles in Miranda, I think it was around $2,000 I rode it for 18 months and sold it to buy my first car Now some 33 years later, and having just turned 50 I would love an LC350, but they are few and far between here, I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road here, a mate at work saw a beautifully restored one on display in a local bike shop only recently, and it belonged to the owner of the shop and definitely wasn't for sale Any others on here from my part of the world? and would be able to tell me what I would be looking to pay for a nice restored matching numbers 4LO 350LC Cheers Steve

LC's ain't as common here as the UK, but there seem to be a few about. Keep your eye out on Gumtree and ebay, they occasionally come up. You'd be lucky to buy a restored matching numbers 350 for less than $5000... in fact you'd be lucky at that! I paid $1000 for a bag of shite with matching numbers, out in the rain for a long time, 'renovators delight'. Good luck. Try '2strokes downunder' they have a classified section, and some good people on there. Duncan
