Dunno... I kinda like that Black LC . Excepting for the silly tires and the not so clever lack of fenders.. not to mention the missing 'legal' bits that attract Officer Friendly.

The bloke slagin the germon bikes is just trying to make his bike seem better to flog it thats all . UK bikes do tend fetch a little more and he's just making that point but they are not worthless. People who are doing a very expensive bike build tend to whant a UK bike .
There is some Snobbery with some people about the bikes but most of it is tonge in cheek stuff. For the most part in the LC club if its LC its OK with us no matter what it looks like from a rat bike to mint standard to Hybrid .
Its the Diferances that make the bikes intoresting, thats why im not in to standard bikes becourse they are all the same i like to look at mods its intoresting ,but others like to look at standard and try and see if they can spot the non standard stuff on a bike like the add wrongly colored bolt and stuff .

Hmmm,
In my garage I have standard bikes of all types and I have modded bikes... It all depends on what I want to ride that day...
we're too small a bunch of people to tolerate snobbery and elitism...

It's a funny one really, yes there are people who don't like hybrids or modified LC's but its not limited to just the LC fraternity, it exists in other models of bikes and there will always be people who don't like what you've done to your bike, car, or house even and while most will not say a word, there will always be a few who seem to want to state the obvious and tell you 'that's not original'. I have an import LC that is being built as a hybrid and I couldn't give a toss who doesn't like it as its my bike. I also have an R1 that I've done a load of modifications to and while most people compliment it, a guy who I ride with does nothing but slag me off as his R1 is standard. I've lost count of the amount of times he's said 'it won't make it go any faster? 'Why do you think you know better then yamaha?' He doesn't get the point that I've made it my own. I had a friend who was the same when it came to cars. I bought my LC as its a bike i remember wanting as a kid and loved that the older guys all put their own mark on them by modifying them. Look how many classic bikes or even cars have been remade but with modern components improving ride, braking, etc but keeping a similar silhouette of the original? Honda and triumph have with bikes etc and look at the mini and fiat 500. For me a hybrid is building a modern take on the original and keeping one more 2 stroke on the road. If the LC was originally a 4 stroke I'm sure Yamaha would have done a modern remake of it by now. It's lovely seeing a complete original LC and the work that has gone into it but that's not what I'm after and I'm proud of the fact I bought an unloved rusting heap that was buried under piles of scrap and it will one day be tearing up the roads like it did 30 years ago. A friend of mine has restored an RD400 and he's put 100's of hours into it and gets out and rides it but he gets the odd anorak that loves to tell him that the odd bolt isn't right, he asks them what they ride and its always the same answer... They haven't got a bike. He just shakes his head and laughs at them. At the end of the day we bikers make up less than 1% of vehicles on the road, so the more bikes out there no matter what they are, the better... 'You pays your money and you takes your choice'
I've said my bit and now I'm going to hunt down the lunatic who's bought a c**kerel near me.... I'm gonna either wring his neck or the bloody owners! :-)

Hi All. I've picked up a real bitsa 31K, I was going to go for as standard as possible but the innocence of this bike has been seriously 'compromised' (doneupdabum) & could be from many more build lines than some of it's pedigree chums. So will let it evolve a bit further but with some classic touches. Has anyone got piccies of a YPVS done in Candy blue schemes ?
