Don't get me wrong I know these 350LCs vibrate and are getting on a bit now, But mine for the most part rides ok, however around the 6000rpm mark it goes through a really bad vibration and then passes just a quick once the revs build! Put it this way you couldn't cruse at 6000rpm..... Your fingers and feet would fall off!! Really tingly!
Is this normal?? Does anyone else suffer with this??

hi, i would say that the first thing to consider is the state of the rubbers in the engine mounting bushes, i have seen some engine mounting bushes that are "soggy" and some are a little more solid. Whether its a tie bar model or not will probably affect it too, and also how the rubber bushes are in them as well. If all the above are OK, then I suspect you will need to start looking at the various rotating/reciprocating engine/gearbox components. I'm not well read on the subject, but I believe that everything has a "resonant frequency" and will vibrate more or less at different rev,s. I think that some vibration is expected, some engines have "detuners" fitted to move the vibration to a different rev range. I have just had to google detuner, to refresh my memory.......all a detuner is, is added weight to the crank shaft, in an attempt to absorb torque spikes, thus reducing vibration and wear...... so skimming an alternator rotor to REDUCE crank shaft weight/mass cant be doing our vibration cause much good? So does that mean that if I fit a Lister "D" type flywheel to my LC, it will last.......for ever???

My LC has an annoying vibration right at 6500 rpm. It isn't so terrible I can't run at that speed but it is annoying enough that I do try to avoid it. I think it is just the nature of a 30 year old parallel twin.

It is right in the transition of going into the band your right! so I wasn't too worried, it's just annoying and was wondering if its normal and what I could do to help eliminate it.

Also worth removing the LH engine case and make sure you haven't got and up and down movement in the flywheel which would mean main bearings going and causing vibration.

Mine does the same mate ,, I changed the engine mount damper washers witch helped a lot , also my left hand exhaust was touching the centre stand pivot .. its certainly better than it was ,, sounds weird but I got to the point of lifting me feet slightl off the pegs till it passed
