In the process of rebuilding my ypvs engine. Bottom end stripped down except for selector drum & forks. I noticed that the pin on the single fork seems to move and almost feels spring loaded, whereas the pins on the other forks seem to be fixed fully in.
Is this normal?
When the bike was last running, gear box was OK, but difficult to get into neutral.

Hi, You can get air behind the pin which can make it feel like it's spring loaded. I did my gearbox rebuild last weekend and pulled the pins on the selector forks to clean them properly. I added a bit of oil to the hole before refitting the pin and it then felt really spongy .Firmly push the pin down as far as it will go in it's hole and the air should bubble out and the pin will then seat firmly.

Also, the neutral problem is common on these. Various ideas as to why neutral is hard to select, like oil type, clutch adjustment, damper rings etc. Worth doing a search on the forum.

Cheers for that. Will try to push the pin in firmly without taking the selector forks out, then on with the rebuild!
